Step 1. Design Review and Technical Preparation

The client wanted to prepare two complex knitwear styles for production: a solid-color sweater and a sweater featuring a geometric pattern. The existing tech packs included detailed measurements and construction requirements, but the project still needed production-ready patterns, tested materials, and a manufacturing solution aligned with the planned order volume. Our task was to turn a detailed design concept into a clear and realistic production plan.

Step 2. Pattern Development and Low-MOQ Factory Sourcing

Each style featured multiple technical elements and required careful control of proportions. To prepare for sampling, our team developed patterns in sizes M and XXL, followed by grading across a complete six-size range.
The next challenge was finding the right manufacturing partner. The client wanted to begin with a limited production run, while many factories capable of producing complex knitwear required minimum orders of up to 500 units.
We compared several manufacturers and developed a separate production solution for each style. This reduced the required MOQ to 60–100 units per color, depending on the garment and material.
A heavyweight cotton option was selected for the solid-color style, while 100% merino wool was sourced for the geometric sweater.
This approach preserved the collection’s premium direction without tying the entire project to a single factory or an unnecessarily high initial order volume.

Step 3. Material Review and Production Costing

Before moving into garment sampling, we arranged the development of cotton and merino wool knit swatches.
Particular attention was given to the weight and density of the merino wool. The initial option was heavier than the garment construction required, so the material was further adjusted to achieve a more suitable structure and weight.
Following an internal review, the swatches were sent to the client together with the completed patterns.
The client responded positively to both the materials and the technical preparation. Two 100% merino wool options were shortlisted for the geometric sweater.
To help the client balance material quality, budget, and launch volume, our team prepared production estimates for:
100 units per style;
150 units per style;
200 units per style;
a complete six-size range.
The project transformed a complex technical concept into a clear production foundation: completed patterns, size grading, evaluated materials, suitable MOQs, and multiple pricing scenarios.
With this information, the client could confidently select the final wool option while understanding how the decision would affect quality, cost, and production volume.
Complex design. Flexible volumes. A carefully planned path to premium knitwear production.
